The Director General of the National Youth Service Corps, Brigadier General Olakunle Nafiu, has appealed to newly mobilised participants of the 2025 Batch C Orientation Course to uphold the fundamental principles of the National Youth Service Corps scheme as they proceed through their one-year national service across Nigeria.

The Director General made the call while addressing Corps Members undergoing their Orientation Course in Rivers State, a state located in the southern part of Nigeria and historically known for its diverse ethnic communities and oil-producing economy.
Okay News reports that the address was originally shared through an official post released on the verified National Youth Service Corps X (formerly Twitter) account.

In his message, Brigadier General Olakunle Nafiu urged the Corps Members to embrace patriotism and allow the ideals of integrity, efficiency, transparency, and commitment to guide their behaviour as representatives of the National Youth Service Corps programme. He stressed that these values remain essential for building a responsible generation capable of contributing meaningfully to national development.

Commending the Corps Members for responding to the federal government’s call to serve their country, the Director General encouraged them to channel their strength, skills, and youthful creativity into activities that will improve their host communities during and after the service year. According to him, selfless service and dedication are the foundations of a united and progressive nation.

Earlier during the event, the Rivers State Coordinator of the National Youth Service Corps, Mr. Moses Oleghe, presented a detailed situation report on the progress of the ongoing Orientation Course. He revealed that a total of 2,586 Corps Members had displayed exemplary discipline, patriotism, and commitment since the programme commenced. Mr. Moses Oleghe noted that their conduct aligns with the long-standing expectations of the National Youth Service Corps scheme.

The Director General’s remarks reinforce the ongoing efforts of the National Youth Service Corps to instill positive values, strengthen national identity, and equip Nigerian youths with the mindset required to serve as responsible leaders and citizens.
