ABAKALIKI, Nigeria – First Class graduates of Ebonyi State University (EBSU) will now be eligible for automatic employment as lecturers at the institution under a new policy announced by Governor Francis Ogbonna Nwifuru.
Okay News reports that the initiative is part of the state government’s efforts to reward academic excellence, retain high-performing graduates and strengthen the future of higher education in Ebonyi State.
The policy means that graduates who earn First Class degrees from EBSU will have a direct opportunity to join the university’s academic workforce. It comes alongside the automatic postgraduate scholarships previously announced for the institution’s First Class graduates.
The governor’s aide, Leo Ekene Oketa, said the measures were designed to create more opportunities for outstanding students and encourage academic excellence within the state.
The policy is expected to help retain some of Ebonyi’s brightest graduates while supporting the development of the state’s higher education sector.
