The Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) in Ogun State has been thrown into mourning following the death of its Public Education Officer, Chief Route Commander Florence Okpe.

Her passing was confirmed on Tuesday by the Ogun State Sector Commander, Akinwunmi Fasakin, who described her as a dedicated and professional officer whose contributions to the command were immeasurable.

Okpe, who had been battling illness for some time, died in her hometown in Cross River State after being granted medical leave. She had previously been receiving treatment in Ogun State before travelling to be with her family.

“We lost Okpe this morning, Tuesday; her family has confirmed the sad news,” Fasakin told reporters in Abeokuta. “She had been sick for a while and attending the clinic here in Ogun State until she was given medical leave, after which she travelled to her hometown in Cross River State, where she eventually died.”

Fasakin paid tribute to Okpe’s legacy, describing her as “an enigma, a very sound, resourceful and professional officer of unparalleled dedication to duty.”

He added, “I have sincerely lost a very dutiful officer. She was very dear to me, and it’s been a sad day since we were told of her death.”

The command extended its condolences to Okpe’s family and loved ones, praying for strength to bear the loss.

Florence Okpe was widely known for her role as the image maker of the Ogun FRSC command, where she played a key role in public education and road safety advocacy.

Her death marks a significant loss to the FRSC community and the broader public safety sector in Nigeria.
