Nigeria's Foreign Minister Maduekwe speaks during a news conference in Lisbon

There will be a Night of Tributes by the Federal Ministry of Foreign Affairs, at Federal Ministry of Foreign Affairs Auditorium on Tuesday, 2nd August, 2016.


 

The family of late Chief Ojo Maduekwe has released his burial plans.

The release signed by Uma Ikechukwu Maduekwe, on behalf of the family, said that the remains of the foremost politician would be committed to mother earth on August 20 at Asaga Ohafia, Abia State.

The release read: “On behalf of the family of Ojo Maduekwe, CFR, I thank the Federal government, Abia and other State governments, the Diplomatic Community, Political associates, friends and well-wishers for the condolences and well wishes that have been extended to us since the departure on Wednesday, July 29, 2016 of our late father.”

According to the programme released, there will be a Night of Tributes by the Federal Ministry of Foreign Affairs, at Federal Ministry of Foreign Affairs Auditorium on Tuesday, 2nd August, 2016.

A Commendation Service by the Presbyterian Church of Nigeria, at the National Christian Center, Abuja, will hold on  Tuesday, August 9, 2016, while on Friday, August 12, there will be a Celebration of Mekaria: Tribute to Ojo Maduekwe, at the Nigeria Air Force Conference Center, Kado, Abuja.

On Thursday, August 18, 2016, there will be Life & Times of Ojo Maduekwe, at Michael Okpara Auditorium, Umuahia, to be hosted by the Abia State Government. On Friday August 19, his remains will  departs the Nnamdi Azikiwe Airport, Abuja  and arrive his ancestral home at Isieke, Ibeku, Umuahia, Abia State.  – 10am

There will be a Court Session by the  Nigeria Bar Association (NBA) at Judiciary headquarters, Umuahia, same day.

Then his body will depart Umuahia for Asaga, Ohafia where a Service of Songs and Christian Wake will hold at Ojo Maduekwe Residence, Asaga, Ohafia. On Saturday, August 20, there will be a burial service by Presbyterian Church of Nigeria, followed by Interment at Ojo Maduekwe Home, Asaga, Ohafia—

On Sunday August 21, there will be an Outing Service at All Saints Presbyterian Church of Nigeria, Asaga Ohafia.
