Okocha Urges Osimhen to Consider Staying at Galatasaray Amid Transfer Speculations

Nigerian football icon Jay-Jay Okocha has offered his perspective on Victor Osimhen’s potential career moves, advising the striker to weigh the emotional and professional fulfillment he has found at Galatasaray.

In an interview with Turkish broadcaster TRT Spor, Okocha emphasized the positive environment in Turkey, stating, “Turkey is a great place to play and live football.” He further remarked, “Sometimes, you may need to make sacrifices when making decisions in football. Osimhen had a great season at Galatasaray. Ultimately, he is happy there. Why shouldn’t he stay with the team? I love Turkey. He loves it too.”

Osimhen, who recently concluded a loan spell from Napoli, had an impressive season, scoring his 37th goal in Galatasaray’s 2–0 victory over İstanbul Başakşehir. His contributions were pivotal in the club securing a league and cup double.

Galatasaray’s head coach, Okan Buruk, acknowledged the uncertainty surrounding Osimhen’s future but praised his impact on the team.

Fans have launched a global #staywithus campaign, including a billboard in Times Square, to encourage Osimhen to remain with the club.

While Osimhen has not publicly disclosed his plans, reports suggest his agent has received a new contract offer from Galatasaray worth €15 million per year, a €3 million increase from his current earnings, potentially making him the highest-paid player in the club’s history.

When asked about Osimhen’s next move, Okocha responded, “I don’t know. Wherever he decides to go, I wish him the best.” Reflecting on his own time in Turkey, Okocha described it as “a wonderful two years” and expressed his affection for Fenerbahçe, stating, “The greatest is Fener.”
