Two distinguished Nigerian women, Dr Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala and Mo Abudu, have been listed among Forbes’ 100 Most Powerful Women in the World for 2025, highlighting their global influence and leadership.
Okonjo-Iweala, ranked 92nd, remains a trailblazer as the first woman and the first African to lead the World Trade Organisation (WTO). With over three decades of experience in international development and economic reform, she has served twice as Nigeria’s Finance Minister and briefly as Foreign Affairs Minister. Her leadership continues to advance global trade as a pathway to sustainable development and poverty reduction.
Mo Abudu, placed at 98th, is recognised for her groundbreaking work in global media. As the founder of EbonyLife Media, she has reshaped African storytelling and expanded the continent’s presence in international entertainment. Her partnerships with major global studios—including Netflix, Sony Pictures, and AMC Networks—have positioned her as one of the most influential figures in modern media.
Their inclusion on the prestigious list alongside global leaders such as Ursula von der Leyen, Christine Lagarde, and newcomer Kim Kardashian underscores the rising impact of women shaping global industries, governance, and cultural narratives.
