Nigerian rap icon and YBNL founder Olamide Adedeji, popularly known as Olamide Baddo, says he has entered a new personal chapter where self-prioritization takes precedence after years of balancing his own career with the responsibility of elevating others.
Okay News reports that the award-winning rapper disclosed this shift during a recent interview with Flow 98.7 FM.
Reflecting on more than a decade of shaping Nigeria’s contemporary music landscape, Olamide said he is finally giving himself the focus he has long denied.
The rapper explained, “Right now, I’m at the phase in my life where I’m really trying to give myself undivided attention.”
He added that his journey has been defined by carrying others along while simultaneously pursuing his own goals.
“All my life I’ve been trying to be there for people and also trying to do my stuff. But right now, I’m really just trying to focus on myself 100 percent,” he said.
Olamide’s imprint, YBNL Nation, has produced some of the most influential stars of the last decade, including Lil Kesh, Adekunle Gold, Fireboy DML, Young Jonn, Pheelz, Lyta, and globally acclaimed singer Asake.
Beyond his signees, he has helped countless other artists break into the limelight through strategic collaborations, among them Zlatan Ibile, Naira Marley, Bella Shmurda, and Portable.
