A Federal High Court in Abuja on Wednesday, January 20 adjourned its ruling on an application filed by the national publicity secretary of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Chief Olisa Metuh.

Parties joined in the suit are: The Attorney General of the Federation, AGF, (First respondent), The EFCC, (Second respondent), the Independent Corrupt Practices Commission, ICPC (Third Respondents), The Inspector General of Police, (Fourth Respondent), and Nigeria Immigration, (Fifth Respondent).

At the hearing today, January 20, the judge over the case, Okon Abang ruled that the respondents were still within time to file their reply briefs and therefore the matter was not ripe for hearing.

He adjourned the case to Monday, January 25.

Counsel to the PDP spokesperson, Olagoke Fakunle prayed the court to enforce an order of the enforcement which allows the presiding judge to ability to adjourn on some terms.

Fakunle said these terms will ensure that all respondents abide by court orders in the interim that could negate the interest of his client, Metuh.

To this, counsel to the second respondent, Cosmos Ugu prayed the court to refuse the application. Ugu said the time for its hearing was not yet due, since the respondents are still within time to file their reply briefs.

Metuh’s suit against the FG came after the PDP’s spokesperson was held under the custody of the EFCC for two weeks.
