Renowned Nollywood actress Omotola Jalade-Ekeinde has debunked reports claiming she fled the United States due to the devastating wildfires in Los Angeles.

The actress, who recently returned to Nigeria, clarified in a series of posts on her Instagram story and page that her travel had no connection to the ongoing fires that have displaced over 137,000 people and claimed the lives of more than 30 individuals, including Hollywood actress Dalyce Curry.

“Touchdown Abuja. When my American fans follow me back to Nigeria. I had to evacuate in 20 minutes. Please, guys, stay safe out there. If you have family in LA, check on them,” Omotola initially shared on her Instagram story upon her arrival in Nigeria on January 9, 2025.

Following her post, speculation spread that her return to Nigeria was prompted by the wildfires in Los Angeles.

Addressing the rumors in a statement on Tuesday evening, Omotola reassured her fans that she and her family are safe, emphasizing that the reports of her fleeing the U.S. were false.

“To set the record straight: My family and I are safe. However, I have seen reports suggesting that I had to leave the U.S. because of the fire. This is inaccurate,” she wrote.

“I have been in Nigeria since December 2024, and I’m still here presently. While I deeply cherish my connection to LA, these fires were not the reason for my travel.”

The wildfires, described as one of the deadliest in Los Angeles’ history, have caused widespread evacuations and significant property damage.
