The Ondo State government has declared Friday, November 15, 2024, as a work-free day to enable residents and public servants to travel to their voting locations for the state’s upcoming governorship election.

The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has scheduled the off-cycle election for Saturday, November 16.

The announcement was made by O.F. Ayodele, Permanent Secretary in the Office of the Head of the Service, in a statement issued on Thursday.

“The 2024 governorship election in Ondo State has been scheduled by the Independent National Electoral Commission to be held on Saturday, November 16, 2024,” the statement read.

“To this end, the Ondo state government has declared Friday, November 15, 2024, as a work-free day for public servants in the state to enable them to travel to their various communities to exercise their civic responsibilities,” Ayodele added.

Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa, who is seeking re-election as the candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC), and Agboola Ajayi, the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) candidate, are the major contenders in the highly anticipated election.
