Ondo State Governor Aiyedatiwa Dissolves Executive Council, Terminates Appointments

By Muhammad A. Aliyu

The Governor of Ondo State, Lucky Aiyedatiwa, has taken a decisive step by dissolving the state executive council with immediate effect.

Ebenezer Adeniyan, the Chief Press Secretary to the governor, conveyed the official decision in a statement on Wednesday.

The governor also announced the termination of the appointments of all Senior Special Assistants (SSAs) and Special Assistants (SAs).

According to the statement, members of the dissolved cabinet are instructed to hand over their responsibilities to the permanent secretaries or the most senior administrative officers in their respective offices.

The statement reads, “Also, all Senior Special Assistants (SSAs) and Special Assistants (SAs) are also relieved of their duties, with immediate effect. All the affected officials are directed to hand over all government properties in their possession.”

Governor Aiyedatiwa expressed gratitude to the affected officials for their dedicated services and contributions to the development of the state.

The move comes nearly a month after Aiyedatiwa assumed office as the governor, succeeding the late Rotimi Akeredolu, who passed away on December 27, 2023, following a prolonged battle with prostate cancer.
