Nigerian fintech company OnePipe has introduced a new payment scheduling feature on its PaywithAccount platform, designed to help users automate essential payments such as electricity, airtime, and mobile data directly from their bank accounts.

The launch follows recent findings by Enhancing Financial Innovation and Access (EFInA), which revealed that nearly half of Nigerian adults missed at least one critical utility or service payment over the past year. This growing trend of missed payments has led to widespread service disruptions, late penalties, and increased financial stress for households.

According to OnePipe, the new feature was developed in response to consumers’ demand for simpler, more reliable payment management. By enabling users to schedule recurring transactions via paywithaccount.com, Nigerians can now automate bills without manual intervention or constant reminders.

Akin Olunloye, Product Manager at PaywithAccount, explained that the innovation is aimed at reducing the stress of managing multiple monthly obligations. “Managing monthly payments has become a significant source of stress for many Nigerians. This scheduling feature within PaywithAccount is a direct response to the need for automation. Our goal is to help consumers streamline their payments reliably and consistently,” he said.

Early adopters of the feature have praised its convenience. Chinyere, a Lagos-based lawyer, said automating her electricity payments through PaywithAccount has “completely eliminated” the hassle of missed deadlines. “I get notifications and receipts immediately through WhatsApp. It’s made a big difference,” she added.

Another user, Sodiq, a digital marketer, shared a similar experience. “I handle various payments every month for family and business purposes. Automating these transactions with PaywithAccount means I never worry about disruptions, even if I’m occupied or traveling. It’s genuinely simplified how I handle my finances,” he said.

Currently, PaywithAccount supports automated payments for major electricity distribution companies such as Eko, Ikeja, Abuja, and Ibadan, as well as all primary mobile networks including MTN, Airtel, Glo, and 9Mobile. OnePipe said it plans to expand the service soon to include other categories like cooperative dues and insurance premiums.

The company reaffirmed its commitment to driving financial inclusion and digital payment innovation in Nigeria, positioning PaywithAccount as a simple and secure way for consumers to take control of their recurring expenses.
