OpenAI has introduced a new version of ChatGPT Images, expanding the tool’s capabilities and unveiling an upgraded Images feature directly inside ChatGPT.

Okay News reports that the update, released on Tuesday, is designed to produce more accurate edits, sharper text rendering, and significantly faster image generation for users worldwide.

The company said the improved system delivers up to four times faster results and has now been released to all ChatGPT users, as well as through the API under the name GPT Image 1.5.

According to OpenAI, the new version “makes more precise edits to existing photos or images made from scratch and creates outputs up to four times faster.”

The company added that GPT Image 1.5 also produces more reliable text within images, correcting a longstanding limitation of AI image models.

In a blog post announcing the upgrade, OpenAI highlighted the model’s ability to handle a wide range of editing tasks without compromising the integrity of the original photo.

“The model excels at different types of editing—including adding, subtracting, combining, blending, and transposing—so you get the changes you want without losing what makes the image special,” the company wrote.

The update also introduces cost reductions, with OpenAI noting that GPT Image 1.5 inputs and outputs are 20 percent cheaper than those of the previous version, GPT Image 1.

OpenAI said the model is already being integrated across industries that rely on advanced visual tools.

“Enterprises and startups across industries, including creative tools, e-commerce, marketing software, and more are already using GPT Image 1.5,” the company said.

With this rollout, OpenAI continues to push deeper into visual AI technology, positioning ChatGPT as a more versatile tool for creators, designers, developers, and businesses.

The new image editing system is expected to support tasks ranging from marketing material generation to product visualization and creative design workflows.
