Ortom: PDP G5 to Support Tinubu’s Re-election Bid in 2027

By Muhammad A. Aliyu

Former Governor of Benue State, Samuel Ortom, announced on Sunday that the PDP G5 group is set to throw its weight behind President Bola Tinubu’s re-election bid in 2027.

Speaking at a luncheon hosted by the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike, Ortom expressed the group’s unwavering support for President Tinubu, emphasizing their commitment to the decision made in the last presidential election.

The PDP G5 group, comprising former governors Okezie Ikpeazu, Ifeanyi Ugwanyi, Nyesom Wike, and Governor Seyi Makinde, had rejected Atiku Abubakar as the Peoples Democratic Party’s presidential candidate ahead of the last presidential poll.

Instead, they rallied behind President Tinubu of the All Progressives Congress (APC), contributing to his victory in the election.

During the luncheon, Ortom conveyed the group’s determination to support President Tinubu for a second term in office, stating, “If we work to ensure Bola Ahmed succeeds, there will be tomorrow for anybody to even contest the election at all.”

He further highlighted the group’s belief in the leadership capabilities of President Tinubu, drawing a parallel with the previous administration’s eight-year term.

Ortom asserted that supporting President Tinubu aligns with the aspirations of Nigerians.

“Our leader, Nyesom Wike, has already made a declaration that in 2027, we are supporting President Bola Ahmed Tinubu. We have nowhere to go because that is what Nigerians believe,” Ortom declared.

Furthermore, Ortom said: “We have nowhere to go because that is what Nigerians believe. Even the past administration that took Nigeria from top to bottom, we allowed them to work for eight years. So, why can’t a seasoned administrator in the person President Bola Ahmed Tinubu rule us for eight years?”
