Osagie Ize-Iyamu, a governorship aspirant in Edo State, has dispelled rumors of a purported rift between himself and Adams Oshiomhole, the former governor of the state and ex-National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC).

Speaking in an interview on Arise Television’s The Morning Show on Thursday, monitored by Okay.ng, Ize-Iyamu clarified that his relationship with Oshiomhole remains cordial.

Rejecting speculations of discord, the former Edo APC governorship candidate emphasized that there is no quarrel between him and Oshiomhole.

He affirmed that they have worked closely together throughout the party formation process and occasional disagreements are natural given their strong personalities.

“I will tell you categorically that we are on good terms. There is no quarrel between myself and Comrade Adams Oshiomhole. We have worked closely throughout the party formation to begin to quarrel unnecessarily. The fact that we disagree does not mean that there is a problem. He has a strong personality, I also have that. So we are bound to disagree,” Ize-Iyamu stated.

Recalling recent events, it was reported that Ize-Iyamu faced disqualification from the APC’s primary by a screening committee allegedly constituted by Oshiomhole.

However, Ize-Iyamu refuted these claims, asserting that he remains an active contender in the gubernatorial race.

The APC has scheduled its primary for February 17 in preparation for the September 21 governorship election in Edo State.

Addressing concerns about his candidacy, Ize-Iyamu affirmed that the decision on the party’s flag bearer is not solely at the discretion of one individual.
