ABUJA, Nigeria – The governorship candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Osun State, Bola Oyebamiji, met with President Bola Tinubu at the Presidential Villa in Abuja on Friday, August 21, 2026, to review post-election developments following the state’s gubernatorial poll.
The meeting followed the conclusion of the Osun State governorship election, in which incumbent Governor Ademola Adeleke of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) secured re-election.

In a statement issued after the closed-door consultation, Oyebamiji disclosed that the President commended the resilience of party members across south-western Nigeria while calling for unity within the state chapter.
“Mr President expressed his appreciation for the steadfastness, commitment and resilience of the members and supporters of our great party,” Oyebamiji said. “He also reiterated his desire to see a more united, focused and stronger APC in Osun State. Mr President further emphasised the need to sustain peaceful coexistence among our people, particularly as we approach the 2027 general elections.”
Oyebamiji also held talks with Vice President Kashim Shettima during his visit to the seat of government in Abuja, noting that the engagement provided reassurance and solidarity for party stakeholders during the post-election transition period.
The APC candidate affirmed that the state party chapter remains committed to pursuing all constitutional avenues and democratic processes as they evaluate the official outcome of the gubernatorial contest.
