Kuriga town in Chikun Local Government Area of Kaduna State was thrown into chaos as bandits stormed LEA Primary School, Kuriga, and abducted numerous pupils on Thursday morning.*

The exact number of abducted individuals remains uncertain, with residents estimating the count to be around 100. Among the victims are reported to be the head teacher of the school and several other staff members.

The harrowing incident unfolded at approximately 8:20 am, right after the morning assembly, sending shockwaves through the community.

The LEA Primary School had become a refuge for junior and secondary students in recent years, relocating to the town’s premises due to security concerns, abandoning its former site situated outside Kuriga town.

Eyewitnesses recounted the terror as most pupils fled their classrooms upon sighting the armed bandits on the school grounds. According to resident Shitu, the abducted victims were forcibly marched into the nearby forest.

Despite the gravity of the situation, there has been no official response from the state government at the time of this report. Attempts to reach the Overseeing Commissioner of the Ministry of Internal Security and Home Affairs, Samuel Aruwan, for comment proved futile.

Similarly, the State Police Command Public Relations Officer, ASP Mansir Hassan, remains unreachable, failing to respond to inquiries regarding the incident. The community remains gripped by fear and uncertainty as efforts to locate and secure the abducted pupils continue.
