The All Progressives Congress in Oyo State, located in South Western Nigeria, has formally announced its unified endorsement of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for a second term in office ahead of the 2027 Presidential Election. This major declaration emerged during a high-level stakeholders’ gathering held at the party’s Secretariat in Oke-Ado, Ibadan, the capital city of Oyo State.

Okay News reports that party leaders at the summit stressed the urgency of strengthening internal cohesion, rebuilding organisational structures, and ensuring that the party enters the next election cycle with an expanded and more coordinated political front.

Folarin Emphasises Consolidation Of 2023 Gains

Speaking during the summit, Senator Teslim Folarin, who is a two-term federal lawmaker and the Oyo State Ambassador for the Renewed Hope Agenda initiated by President Tinubu, reaffirmed the party’s readiness to surpass its 2023 electoral performance.

Senator Folarin said, “The party’s primary objective is to consolidate its 2023 presidential performance by securing at least a 35 per cent increase in votes for President Tinubu in 2027,” stressing that unity remains the backbone of any successful political project.

He added, “No political strategy, no matter how brilliant, can succeed in an atmosphere of division. Our foremost responsibility is unity. The ‘One All Progressives Congress, One Tinubu Project’ must be our guiding principle.”

Attendance Of Top Political Figures From Across Oyo State

The stakeholders’ summit attracted a notable collection of senior political actors including Senators Hosea Agboola Alleluyah, Hamzat Adeseun, and Yinus Akintunde. Others in attendance were Shittu Adebayo, Akinola Alabi, Dr. Ibrahim Olaifa, Tolulope Akande-Sodipe, Olamijuwonlo Alao-Akala, Moshood Erubami, Alhaji Fatal Ibikunle, as well as chairmen from all thirty-three local government areas within Oyo State.

Senator Folarin highlighted that the Renewed Hope Agenda remains aligned with President Tinubu’s expectations for widespread collaboration across Nigeria’s political landscape. He also noted the necessity of a vibrant grassroots network, explaining that each ward and community must be fully active and responsive.

He said, “Our grassroots structures must be vibrant, functional and connected to the people. Every ward, every unit and every community must feel the presence and impact of the All Progressives Congress.”

Internal Peace, Renewed Cooperation And 2027 Outlook

Folarin disclosed that existing disagreements within the Oyo State All Progressives Congress had been largely resolved in a friendly manner, placing the party in a stronger position ahead of the 2027 national elections.

Meanwhile, Nigeria’s Minister of Power and prominent governorship aspirant in Oyo State, Chief Bayo Adelabu, described the summit as the largest political convergence of All Progressives Congress members in the state since the 2023 elections. He praised the improved unity among party stakeholders.

Chief Adelabu said, “We are now speaking with one voice. There is no faction, no division within the Oyo State All Progressives Congress. There is now cordial and peaceful interaction among our leaders, executives and stakeholders. Unity, cooperation, partnership and collaboration have fully returned, and the party is stronger than ever.”

He further stated, “Reconciliation within the party is already 90 per cent complete,” and encouraged members who have not re-joined the peace process to emulate other leaders who have done so.

According to him, “If elections were held tomorrow, it would be a landslide victory for Oyo All Progressives Congress. We have unanimously adopted President Bola Tinubu as our sole candidate for the 2027 presidential election, and the resolution was embraced by all.”

Calls For Unity As Summit Highlights Progress

Senators Ayoade Adeseun and Fatai Buhari both supported the call for sustained unity within the party. They urged members to resolve lingering disagreements and focus on delivering a decisive victory for President Tinubu in 2027.

Former Oyo State All Progressives Congress Chairman, Chief Akin Oke, commended party members for embracing peace, noting that cooperation and inclusiveness were evident throughout the summit.

A member of the Nigerian House of Representatives representing Ido and Ibarapa East Federal Constituency, Remi Oseni, explained that the summit’s outcome aligns with President Tinubu’s broader reconciliation initiatives.

He said, “The outcome of this meeting has shown that many of us must return to our constituencies to enlighten our members that the party has resolved to work together in unity.”

He added, “If this continues, the 2027 elections will be a walkover.”
