The Oyo State Chapter of the Medical and Health Workers’ Union of Nigeria has directed its members to commence a seven-day warning strike on Monday, June 24, 2024. The strike action is aimed at pressing the state government to address the union’s grievances, which have been neglected despite a 14-day ultimatum issued on May 27, 2024.

According to the union President, John Fabunmi, the strike is imperative due to the government’s inaction regarding the union’s demands. All health workers in the state, including those in health institutions, ministries, and local government areas, are expected to participate in the strike, which will begin at 12:01 am on Monday.

The union has threatened to take further action if the government fails to address their agitations after the seven-day warning strike. This development may potentially affect healthcare services in the state, and the government is urged to take swift action to resolve the issue.
