Ibadan, Nigeria – The Oyo State Police Command has responded to a viral video in which an individual identified as Shawama allegedly claimed responsibility for killing 32 people, stating that there is no official record of such a suspect being arrested by its operatives.
Okay News reports that the Command disclosed it has commenced a comprehensive investigation into the claims and the confessional statements contained in the video, despite the absence of prior records linking the suspect to any arrest.
According to the police, the probe is being carried out using advanced methods, including digital forensics and digital footprint analysis, to establish the authenticity of the claims and identify those involved.
The Command also called on members of the public to provide useful information that could assist in identifying and apprehending the individual and any accomplices, assuring that all credible leads would be thoroughly pursued.
Police spokesperson stated that the Command remains committed to ensuring justice and maintaining public safety, adding that updates on the investigation will be communicated as developments unfold.
