The Oyo State Government has released N2 billion to offset part of the salary arrears and related wages owed local government workers in the state.

A statement issued on Friday in Ibadan by Bimbo Kolade, the State Commissioner for Local Government and Chieftaincy Matter, said the money was sourced from the financial assistance received from the Federal Government.

He pledged that the state government would continue to dialogue with the labour unions in the state to find a lasting solution to the issue of salary payment to local government and state workers.

Kolade said the administration remains committed to the welfare of the people, especially its workers, noting that concerted efforts were in place to ensure regular payment of salaries and wages.
