Qandeel Balooch, Pakistani social media celebrity has been killed by her brother in an apparent ‘honour killing’ in the province of Punjab, police say.

Ms Baloch, recently caused controversy by posting controversial pictures of herself on social media, including one with her alongside a Muslim cleric. Police say she was strangled to death.

Qandeel’s brother, who was identified by the police as Waseem had been threatening her to stop posting photos and videos on Facebook. Waseem went to meet her at night when she was asleep, and strangled her. He fled after killing Qandeel, whose real name is Fauzia Azeem.

Qandeel Baloch became a household name for posting bold, sometimes raunchy, photographs, video and comments.
