Two Pakistani citizens have been apprehended by the Lagos State Police Command for allegedly orchestrating a kidnapping operation in the state. The suspects, 19-year-old Roman Gull and 28-year-old Aftab Ahmad, were part of a group that reportedly abducted a 48-year-old Pakistani national after enticing him with a fraudulent job opportunity.

According to Benjamin Hundeyin, the Lagos Police Public Relations Officer, the victim was lured from Kano State with promises of employment as a chef. The police responded to an emergency call received at the Ikeja Division on Wednesday, March 5, 2025, reporting the kidnapping within the Ikeja area.

“Anti-crime patrol teams were immediately deployed, resulting in the victim’s rescue and the capture of two kidnappers, while five others managed to escape,” Hundeyin explained in an official statement released Thursday.

The investigation revealed that the suspects arranged for the victim’s travel from Kano and provided hotel accommodation on February 28, 2025. The following day, they overwhelmed him, bound his hands and feet, and contacted his employer demanding ₦50 million for his release, threatening violence if their demands weren’t met.

The employer initially transferred ₦1 million to gain time before contacting authorities.
Police recovered several items from the suspects, including: a grey Toyota Camry, $2,000 in cash belonging to the victim, Three ATM cards, A green card, A driver’s license and a National Identity Number slip
Hundeyin stated that efforts to locate the remaining suspects continue, and all involved will face prosecution upon completion of the investigation. The victim is reportedly in good health, and his family has been contacted.

Lagos State Commissioner of Police Olohundare Jimoh praised the officers for their prompt action and reaffirmed the command’s dedication to ensuring security throughout the state.
