GOMBE, Nigeria – The Pantamiyya Movement, a prominent political support group for former Minister of Communications and Digital Economy, Professor Isa Ali Ibrahim Pantami, has raised the alarm over an alleged plot by political opponents to disrupt the ongoing All Progressives Congress (APC) direct primary elections in Gombe State.
Okay News reports that the warning was contained in an official disclaimer issued on Saturday, May 16, 2026, signed by Professor Suleiman Mohammed on behalf of the movement. The group claimed that individuals opposed to a credible electoral process have manufactured and distributed unauthorized campaign T-shirts bearing Pantami’s image and name, with the intent of instigating violence and chaos at polling centers.
“It has come to our attention that some individuals opposed to free, fair, and credible elections in Gombe State have printed T-shirts bearing Professor Isa Ali Ibrahim Pantami’s picture and name during the direct primaries of the All Progressives Congress,” the statement read. “Their intention is to cause a crisis during the election.”
In response to the perceived security threat, the leadership of the movement has instructed all genuine loyalists to completely avoid wearing any branded apparel featuring the former minister during today’s voting and the remaining election days. Supporters were strongly urged to remain peaceful, calm, and law-abiding, refusing to be baited into any orchestrated provocations at the wards.
The development comes amid rising political tensions within the Gombe State APC chapter, where Pantami recently declared his interest in the governorship race, openly challenging previous consensus arrangements pushed by party stakeholders. The Pantamiyya Movement concluded its statement with a direct appeal to the police and alternative security agencies to track down, arrest, and prosecute those behind the unauthorized merchandise to ensure the integrity of the state primaries.
