At the midnight Holy Ghost Service held on June 7, 2025, at Redemption City, Ogun State, Pastor Enoch Adeboye, the General Overseer of the Redeemed Christian Church of God, revealed a profound spiritual warning he received from God. The pastor disclosed that God cautioned him that his firstborn child would die if he ever abandoned the RCCG.

The service, themed “Destined for Greatness (Part 2),” focused on the significance of divine direction and steadfastness in faith. Adeboye referenced a sermon recently delivered by his son, Pastor Leke Adeboye, and expressed concern over the common practice among young Christians of frequently changing churches.

“When I got born again, there were three major ministries that were making waves, and they were very good. There were different temptations to go from one to another,” he recalled. Despite these tempting alternatives, God’s instruction was clear: “Son, I brought you here. This is where you will stay. The day you leave this denomination, your firstborn will die.”

Adeboye highlighted the humble beginnings of RCCG, noting that its headquarters was then a small building in Ebute-Metta, Lagos, far from the global influence it enjoys today. Despite his status as a university lecturer, Adeboye recounted how God directed him to submit to his spiritual father, who had no formal education.

“I was a lecturer at the university. My father in the Lord didn’t go to secondary school, not even primary. But God said this is where you will stay,” he said. He encouraged the congregation to identify and remain in the place God has designated for them, especially urging young believers to resist the urge to move from church to church.

He concluded by clarifying that his message was not an assertion of RCCG’s superiority over other denominations, stating, “I am not saying we are better than any other denomination.”
