Abuja, Nigeria – The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has blamed the administration of Bola Ahmed Tinubu for the recent bomb explosions in Maiduguri, Borno State, which reportedly left several people dead and many others injured.
Okay News reports that the opposition party said the attack, which allegedly resulted in at least 23 deaths and more than 100 injuries, highlights what it described as the federal government’s inability to tackle the worsening security situation across the country.
In a statement issued on Monday, Ini Ememobong, national publicity secretary of the PDP, said the incident represents another example of the growing insecurity under the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC).
The party said the development contradicts earlier campaign promises by the APC to end insecurity if elected into office, adding that the security situation in the country has deteriorated significantly in recent years.
According to the PDP, insecurity that was once largely concentrated in the North-East has now spread to several other parts of Nigeria that were previously considered relatively peaceful.
While sympathising with families of victims affected by the attack, the opposition party urged the federal government to move beyond what it described as rhetoric and adopt a more comprehensive strategy to address the security crisis.
The PDP also called on authorities to engage community leaders and other stakeholders as part of a broader national approach to tackling insecurity.
