A major political shake-up hit the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) on Thursday as the faction led by Acting National Chairman Umar Damagun announced the expulsion of Federal Capital Territory Minister Nyesom Wike, former Ekiti State Governor Ayodele Fayose, and eight other senior party figures over alleged anti-party activities.

The sweeping decision was taken at the party’s Elective National Convention held in Ibadan, Oyo State, marking one of the most consequential disciplinary actions in the PDP’s recent history.

Those expelled alongside Wike and Fayose include:
Senator Samuel Anyanwu (National Secretary), Bature, Adeyemi Ajibade, SAN, Mohammed Abdulrahman, Mao Ohuabunwa, Austin Nwachukwu, George Turner, Abraham Amali, and Dan Orbi.

In a parallel move that further underscores the party’s internal turmoil, the convention also approved the dissolution of PDP state executives in Rivers, Abia, Imo, Plateau, and Enugu States.

Okay News reports that the motions leading to the purge were moved by prominent party leaders — Chief Bode George, a member of the Board of Trustees (BoT), and Oyo State Governor Seyi Makinde.
George pushed for the expulsion of the listed chieftains, while Makinde moved for the dissolution of the affected state structures.

Both leaders argued that the actions were carried out in line with Section 33 (2) of the 2017 PDP Constitution.
