PDP Postpones National Executive Committee Meeting Again

By Muhammad A. Aliyu

The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has announced yet another postponement of its National Executive Committee (NEC) meeting, originally scheduled for November 28, 2024.

This decision marks the fourth time the meeting has been rescheduled since its initial plan for August.

The latest postponement was confirmed in a public notice signed by the party’s National Publicity Secretary, Senator Samuel Anyanwu, in Abuja.

The change was attributed to the funeral arrangements of the late First Lady of Akwa Ibom State, Pastor Mrs. Patience Umo Eno, wife of Governor Pastor Umo Bassey Eno. The funeral is set to take place from November 27 to 29, 2024.

The statement read: “At its meeting of Wednesday, the attention of the National Working Committee (NWC) was drawn to the programme of events of the funeral ceremony of Mrs. Eno, which coincide with the scheduled dates of activities for the 99th NEC meeting.”

“After due consideration, the NWC, recognising the need for party leaders to commiserate with Governor Eno, hereby notify NEC members that the 99th NEC meeting will now be held on a date that will be communicated to members in due course.”

The NWC extended its apologies for any inconvenience caused by the change and urged NEC members to await further updates on the new date.

This meeting has faced several delays, having been initially planned for August, before being rescheduled to September, then October 2, and finally November 28.
