The Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, has asserted that no individual within his party or across Nigeria can hinder or intimidate him from carrying out his duties in support of the All Progressives Congress (APC)-led federal government.

Speaking at a congress, Wike firmly dismissed any allegations of anti-party activities, emphasizing that his actions remain within the boundaries of party loyalty and governance.

Wike pointed out that several prominent leaders within the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) are also contributing to the success of other political parties but have not faced criticism for their actions.

Wike criticized what he described as double standards within the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), highlighting instances where party leaders openly supported candidates from other political parties without facing backlash.

He pointed out that the chairman of the PDP Board of Trustees (BoT) publicly endorsed and pledged continued support for the Labour Party (LP) governor in Abia State, vowing to stand by him until his second-term bid was secured.

Additionally, Wike noted that the chairman of the PDP Governors Forum celebrated the victory of an opposition party’s candidate in his state, despite the PDP losing the election.

He argued that the party’s National Working Committee failed to reprimand a governor who backed a governorship candidate from a different party, calling it an example of hypocrisy.

Reaffirming his stance, Wike insisted that no one in Nigeria could oppress or intimidate him, emphasizing that he does not need to hold a governorship position to assert his rights.

“I will continue to fight until the right thing is done and seen to have been done.”

Speaking further, the minister says, “Before I became the FCT minister, I wrote to the party and consulted with critical stakeholders of the PDP.”

“They consented and said go and serve. So what offence have I committed? We have elders in this country who don’t tell their children the truth. For me, I say no, I must tell people the truth. It is wrong that political leaders have refused to tell the truth.”

“We the Southern PDP leaders agreed that we should support a Southern President in 2023, with the likes of Bode George. This is the reason I ensured that Tinubu won the election.”
