Senator-Ahmed-Makarfi

Interim National Chairman, Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and a former governor of Kaduna State, Senator Ahmed Makarfi, has said that the party is only on sabbatical leave, and that it will bounce back in 2019 to unseat the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC).

Also speaking in the same vein, Chairman, reconciliation committee of PDP, Seriake Dickson of Bayelsa State, expressed optimism that the PDP would come out of the present crisis stronger than the APC.

Both Makarfi and Dickson addressed some of the PDP supporters shortly before they went into a closed door meeting in Makarfi ‘s residence.

They agreed that there was the need for reconciliation and forgiveness among stakeholders of the party who may have felt offended in one way or the other.

“PDP will bounce back, and in Kaduna we are only on sabbatical, we have a formidable team. We need to reconcile, we need to acknowledge where we went wrong. It is a good virtue to say sorry where you are wrong. It is a good virtue to reconcile,” Makarfi said.

Appealing to the party faithful, Dickson said: “No doubt in the cause of events, we must have hurt each other. On behalf of all, as chairman of the caretaker committee, I wish to apologise to all, from whichever side they belong, who feel hurt by whatever means. Litigation may just give you a legal victory, but it may not give you a permanent peace and harmony amongst your family.”

“He explained that he was in Kaduna to consult with stakeholders on how to move the party forward.

“I am in Kaduna to consult with our National Chairman who is one of the respected leaders of our party and of our country. I am here to consult with him on the way forward for our country,” he said.

Dickson enjoined contending forces to embrace the option of dialogue to settle all disagreements.

“People should resort to political solution and political solution comes by engagement, meetings and interaction of party leaders not litigation in the law courts,” he admonished party supporters.
