Veteran Nollywood actor Pete Edochie has spoken up about his son Yul Edochie’s controversial second marriage, revealing that he was not informed beforehand about the union.
In an interview with media personality Chude Jideonwo, the iconic actor expressed his stance on not interfering in Yul’s personal matters and admitted to being taken by surprise upon learning about the new marriage.
Addressing the situation, Pete Edochie emphasized, “Yul is 41. I really don’t interfere in his affairs. No! Suddenly we heard he picked up a second wife.
“We just heard it and that’s it. Mary is not just a daughter-in-law.
I don’t want to say that I love Mary more than the other wives of my sons, but the Love I have for Mary is so strong.
“Why? The father and I were very close. Mary is a girl I love to the marrow. She is a wonderful person. Mary is a very brilliant girl, and to a large extent the success of that home is to Mary’s credit.”
Regarding the controversy surrounding the marriage, Pete Edochie revealed that some people have been advising May to sever ties with Yul.
However, he dismissed such counsel, pointing out that those offering advice do not have stable homes themselves, raising doubts about the validity of their suggestions.
“A lot of people have been advising her wrongly, trying to see if they can sunder the link between herself and her husband. Most of the people advising her that way don’t have good homes,” he said.
In April 2022, Yul Edochie publicly introduced actress Judy Austin as his second wife, along with the announcement of their first child together.
The revelation was met with disapproval from May Edochie, leading to her recent filing for divorce from Yul, with a demand of N100 million in damages.
