Peter Obi Shops at Supermarket Ahead of 2027 Election

Published

Lagos, Nigeria – Former Anambra State governor and National Democratic Congress presidential candidate Peter Obi purchased personal items at a branch of H-Medix Supermarket on Saturday, July 18, 2026.

Okay News reports that Esther Umoh, a photographer for the 2023 presidential campaign of Obi, shared images of the supermarket visit on the social media platform X on Sunday, July 19, 2026. “Peter Obi today stopped by a branch of H-Medix Supermarket to pick up a few personal items,” Umoh said.

Umoh said the visit reflected the connection Obi has with ordinary citizens. “By experiencing the same markets, prices, and economic conditions as everyone else, he gains a firsthand understanding of the challenges families face daily,” Umoh said.

Umoh said Obi spoke with employees and customers inside the store during the visit. “He also took out time to interact warmly with members of staff and fellow shoppers. A reminder that leadership is ultimately about staying connected to the people you serve,” Umoh said.

Obi served as the governor of Anambra State from 2006 to 2014 and was the Labour Party presidential candidate in the 2023 general election before becoming the National Democratic Congress presidential candidate for the 2027 election.
