Petrol Tanker Explosion in Jigawa State Leaves Numerous Casualties, Hundreds Injured

A devastating petrol tanker explosion occurred along the Kano-Hadejia expressway in Taura Local Government Area of Jigawa State, resulting in numerous casualties and leaving over 300 people severely injured.

The incident, which began late Tuesday night at approximately 11:45 p.m., continued into the early hours of Wednesday, raging until 3:15 a.m..

According to Zagazola Makama, a counter-insurgency publication focused on the Lake Chad region, the explosion triggered a massive fire, leading to widespread destruction and overwhelming local emergency services.

Eyewitnesses reported that the fire spread rapidly, causing significant damage in the area. Videos of the intense inferno have surfaced on social media, showing the scale of the devastation.

As of now, authorities are still working to confirm the death toll, and rescue and recovery operations are ongoing.

Efforts are being made to identify victims and provide urgent medical assistance to the injured, many of whom are reported to be in critical condition.
