a letter made available to our reporter, the students complained that insecurity in the city had made banks to work for just 2 hours daily mostly between at 11:30 and 2:00pm.

The students said the early closure of banks due to poor security in the city had led to students losing their studentship due to backdrop effect of late transactions

“The Late opening of banks in Ijebu has caused a whole lot of problems on the Students and the good people of Ijebu-Ode ranging from a climax fall in Businesses, health issues leading to death of young and old innocent people as a result of unavailability of funds to take care of their emergency health issues at the right time.

“We had had instances where Students lost their Studentship as a backdrop effect of late transactions. Several Students of Olabisi Onabanjo,Tai solarin University of Education, Ogun State College of Health Science and Technology and Abraham Adesanya Polytechnic had unwarrantedly spilled, people had lost appointments and jobs, due to the irresponsibility of our Government to provide good Security for her people,” the letter reads in part.

They also said businesses have collapsed; traders lose millions of naira on daily basis with the situation promoting “unruly fears while at the same time limiting the people’s ability to develop economically and reduce unemployment.”

While we give a 7-Day Ultimatum to the state government, we demand the following; “An immediate deployment of stable Armoured personnel carriers and enough Security personnels to the Banking areas.

“The State Government should liaise with the Ministry of Defense or Nigeria Army to deploy as soon as possible members of the Nigeria Army from the neighbouring Barracks to assist the Nigerian Police to reinstate sanctity into the Community, by building a formidable Security assurance for the People.

“Banks should return to the normal order of opening for businesses at 8:00am and closing by 4:00pm.”
