PHOTOS: Sule Lamido Meets Obasanjo Over His 2019 Presidential Bid

Former Governor of Jigawa state and presidential hopeful Sule Lamido on Monday met with ex-president Olusegun Obasanjo in his Olusegun Obasanjo national library Abeokuta, Ogun state.

Emerging from the meeting which lasted two hours behind closed doors, Lamido, however, told newsmen that he sees no hope for the country.

While explaining the reason for his visit, the former governor said he visited the former President to seek his fatherly advice and guidance over his presidential ambition.

Lamido said: “In Nigeria, when they say who is baba’s son? They say it is Sule Lamido. As a result of this, I have only come to my father to seek guidance and to still tap from his wisdom about Nigeria.”

When asked of his take on the present situation of the country he said: “My take on the present situation of the country is what I see on your faces, I see poverty, despair, in fact, I see that there is no hope for this country on your faces.” Asked if he has come to consult on his Presidential ambition, he said: “Yes, I am aspiring and as a result of this, I must discuss that with my father, Baba Obasanjo.”

On the gale of defections, he said: “In a political party, what you need is followership and when people are coming into your own party, you should be happy and even celebrate.”

Meanwhile, Chief Obasanjo did not come out to attend to any question from the journalists.
