Jos, Plateau State, Nigeria – The Plateau State Government has imposed a 48-hour curfew in Jos North Local Government Area following a deadly security incident in Angwan Rukuba.
The directive, which takes effect from midnight of March 29 to April 1, 2026, comes after an attack at Gari Ya Waye community that left several people dead and others injured. The government described the incident as “barbaric and unprovoked,” strongly condemning the violence.
Okay News reports that the curfew was announced under the leadership of Caleb Mutfwang in collaboration with security agencies, as part of urgent measures to restore order and prevent further escalation.
The development follows earlier reports of panic in the area after unidentified gunmen allegedly opened fire on residents, with multiple gunshots heard across the community and fears of casualties spreading among locals.
Authorities have assured that efforts are underway to apprehend those responsible, urging residents to remain calm, stay indoors, and cooperate with security operatives by providing useful information to aid ongoing investigations.
