Jos, NIGERIA – The Plateau State Government has announced a further relaxation of the curfew in Jos North Local Government Area and its surrounding districts, citing a satisfactory improvement in the security situation.
Okay News understands that the decision was made on Wednesday, April 15, 2026, following consultations between the state government and relevant security agencies. Under the new directive, the restricted hours will now be from 7 p.m. to 5 a.m. daily, providing residents with more hours of movement compared to the previous, more stringent restrictions imposed after recent civil disturbances.
In a statement signed by the Commissioner for Information and Communication, Rt. Hon. Joyce Lohya Ramnap, the government commended citizens for their cooperation and peaceful conduct, which paved the way for the review. Residents are, however, advised to adhere strictly to the new timeframes to avoid any confrontations with security personnel.
The government urged the public to sustain the spirit of peace and to remain vigilant by reporting any suspicious activities to the authorities. This move is seen as a major step toward restoring full normalcy to the state capital and fostering economic activities that had been hampered by the unrest.
