Plateau United have won the Nigeria Professional Football League (NPFL) title for the first time after beating last season’s winners Rangers 2-0 in a packed Rwam Pam Stadium on Saturday.

Emeka Umeh sent the home fans into early jubilation when he finished off a brilliant assist from Kabiru Umar in the 25th minute, before Benjamin Turba put the icing on the cake in the 88th minute.

The win put Plateau on 66 points, four ahead of second-placed MFM, who lost 2-1 to El-Kanemi Warriors.
