Makurdi, NIGERIA – The Benue State Police Command has arrested seven additional suspects, including an 80-year-old man, in connection with the targeted killing of the state Chairman of the Miyetti Allah Cattle Breeders Association of Nigeria (MACBAN), Alhaji Ardo Risku Mohammed, and his associate, Yakubu Isa.
The victims were ambushed and murdered while returning from a critical security and peace meeting organized by the Divisional Police Officer (DPO) in the Ohimini Local Government Area of the state. Okay News reports that the latest breakthrough follows sustained intelligence gathering, forensic tracking, and coordinated tactical sweeps executed by the command’s specialized investigation teams.
According to an official security brief released by the command spokesperson, the newly apprehended suspects include Sylvester Ajonye, 80; Chief Morgan Ejaga, 43; Chief Moses Anteyi, 45; Chief John Ogli, 58; Chief Yawuhu Adaji, 49; Aba Alexander Uloko, 59; and Fidelis Iduma, 45. This strategic operation brings the total number of suspects currently in police custody to 17, following an initial round-up of 10 individuals shortly after the incident occurred.
The state Commissioner of Police, CP Cletus Nwadiogbu, highly commended the investigating operatives for their professionalism and unyielding commitment to justice. Reassuring the public that the investigation remains active, the CP emphasized that the command will leave no stone unturned in ensuring that every individual who directly or indirectly participated in the killings faces the full wrath of the law, while urging residents to remain calm and maintain a steady flow of credible information to security agencies.
