Confirmed reports reaching us say the Kano State Joint Security Committee has banned all forms of jubilation during and after the swearing-in of the governor-elect in Kano State, Dr. Abdullahi Umar Ganduje.

Our correspondent reports that the Kano State Police commissioner, Ibrahim K. Idris, spoke on the swearing-in ceremony and the preparedness of security operatives for the day, saying there will be zero tolerance for celebrations of any sort in the State come Friday May 29th.

“There will be serious restriction of movement into the venue and its vicinity.  As such, public are advised to make use of public viewing centres sited in four different locations in the city,” Ibrahim said.

Speaking further on the issue, he said: “Except the Executive Governor’s and Emir’s vehicles, no other dignitary, security agent and any other person is allowed to use siren while going to the venue on the occasion. There shall be no use of knockouts, fireworks or firecrackers during and after the celebration. We have taken this decision in view of intelligence gathered.”
