She said police personnel were dispatched to the scene and managed to rescue the victims.

Robbery attempt

She said police investigation showed that the suspects attempted to rob the Nigerian after they had followed him from a bank at Kasoa.

The Nigerian, she said, told the police that he realised his car was being followed, so when the policeman and another man in military uniform attempted to stop him, he sensed danger.

The victim said he slowed down when he got to Weija and the suspects pounced on him, leading him to raise an alarm.

The alarm attracted some people who were close by, and on hearing the story of the victim, they pounced on the suspects.

Ms Tenge said the suspects were in the custody of the Weija police while investigations were ongoing.

She gave the assurance that the police would not shield any miscreant in the service.
