Abuja, NIGERIA – The Nigeria Police Force has announced a nationwide deployment of additional security personnel to ensure the safety of candidates participating in the 2026 Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board examinations, which are scheduled to begin on Thursday, April 16, 2026.
Okay News gathered that the move comes in response to rumors circulating on social media regarding the safety of certain examination centers, particularly in the North-Central region. In a statement released on Tuesday, April 14, by the Force Public Relations Officer, DCP Anthony Okon Placid, the police dismissed these claims as unfounded and without basis.
Despite debunking the rumors, the police stated they have taken proactive measures to protect candidates and staff. The security strategy involves both visible and undercover personnel stationed at centers across the country, alongside rapid response teams positioned at strategic locations to address any emergencies. The Force is also working closely with other security agencies to monitor potential threats and conduct routine perimeter checks at all examination venues.
The Force warned that any individual or group attempting to disrupt the examination process will be swiftly arrested and prosecuted. Candidates and parents are advised to disregard unverified information and rely only on official updates from JAMB and the police. Candidates are further encouraged to arrive early at their designated centers and to report any suspicious activity to security personnel on-site as the police remain committed to maintaining peace during this national exercise.
