The Nigeria Police have explained that the Chief Security Officer (CSO) to Rivers State Governor, Mr. Nyesom Wike, was withdrawn “as a result of gross professional misconduct.”

It will be recalled that Wike had, a few days ago, raised the alarm, that the Police had withdrawn his CSO, Mr. Promise Nwosu, a Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP), thereby exposing him to danger. However, the Police, in a statement released Wednesday by the spokesman, Mr. Don Awunah, a Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP), said Nwosu allegedly compromised his professional conduct by joining protesting members of a political party in the state.

Awunah further alleged that Wike’s former CSO showed disrespect to a superior officer, who had challenged his conduct.

He further disclosed that the officer has since been queried for insubordination and other related offences.
His withdrawal was said to be on the orders of the Inspector General of Police (IGP), Mr. Ibrahim Idris.
