When officers arrived, the man reportedly stabbed himself a few more times. The incident happened in the vicinity of 39th Avenue and Union Hills.

Authorities said that the man somehow threatened officers with the knife. That is when at least 2 of the officers opened fire and shot the man.

“We just heard shots. We ran to the door and he was on the floor. There were 3 cops on top of him with their guns pointed and it was all over,” said a neighbor.

The victim’s name has not been released.

According to the initial police investigation, 4 officers at the scene said that the man lunged at them with the knife. However, none of the witnesses have corroborated this statement.

The man was pronounced dead at the scene.
