The Ondo State Police Command has confirmed the death of Mrs. Rabiat Atere, whose body was discovered on her farm in Oka-Akoko, located in the Akoko South-West Local Government Area of Ondo State. The incident occurred recently, and the exact cause of her death remains unclear as investigations are still ongoing.

Some local residents have speculated that suspected herdsmen may be responsible for the killing, but this has not been officially confirmed. Mrs. Atere’s remains were reportedly taken to a hospital in the Iwaro Oka Community for further examination.

In a telephone interview, the spokesman for the Ondo State Police Command, Olayinka Ayanlade, confirmed the incident and assured that a thorough investigation has been launched. “I can confirm the incident to you, and the Ondo State Police Command has launched a manhunt to ensure that the perpetrators face the full wrath of the law,” Ayanlade stated.

Okay.ng reports that security operatives are actively pursuing leads to apprehend those responsible for this tragic event.

Meanwhile, the Akoko Youth Forum (AYF), a local youth group, has condemned the killing and called on security agencies to bring the culprits to justice. The National President of the group, Mr. Ibukunoluwa Akeju, issued a statement alleging that suspected Fulani assailants carried out the attack.

The statement read, “The Akoko Youth Forum strongly condemns the gruesome and unfortunate killing of Mrs. Rabiat Atere, a peaceful farmer and indigene of Ajo Quarter in Uba Oka Community, who was reportedly attacked and murdered while working on her farm. This heinous act, allegedly carried out by suspected Fulani assailants, is a direct attack on the peace and safety of our people, a threat we can no longer tolerate.”

The police have urged anyone with information to come forward as they intensify efforts to solve the case and restore peace in the community.
