Police Officer Jailed For Posting Lionel Messi’s Passport Online

This is Messi in Dubai…Now what to do? Burn the passport…or leave it there? Ok. I will leave it there.

That was the message a police officer typed posted alongside a photo of Lionel’s Messi’s passport on Snapchat.

The officer took the picture while Messi attended the Global Soccer Awards in Dubai, the United Arab Emirates last December.

He had requested a selfie with Messi from his aides but was denied. Messi’s security detail said the five-time Ballon D’Or winner was tired.

As an Emirati police officer, the sergeant had access to the Barcelona star’s passport. And he decided to do what he did. He later suggested he did it for the love of Messi.

A Dubai court ruled that the sergeant had breached the Argentine forward’s privacy by posting his intimate details on Snapchat after taking the snap while on duty at passport control.

The police officer was sentenced to one month in prison.
