Published

ILORIN, Nigeria – Police operatives rescued a 26-year-old kidnapped woman and arrested a suspected collaborator following an intelligence-led operation announced on Friday, July 31, 2026.

Okay News reports that the Kwara State Police Command, through the Kwara State Commissioner of Police, Ojo Adekimi, detailed the successful rescue of Shekinat Mukaila and the arrest of Aliyu Mohammed during a briefing in Ilorin.

Adekimi said the victim was abducted on July 15, 2026, when armed attackers invaded the Wande Community in the Ora Kingdom of Ifelodun Local Government Area in Kwara State. During the invasion, the father of the victim, the traditional ruler of the community, sustained gunshot wounds while trying to stop the abduction.

Adekimi said, “Upon receipt of the report, the command immediately activated its tactical and intelligence assets. Operatives were swiftly deployed to the scene, where the area was secured, critical exhibits were recovered, and a comprehensive intelligence-led investigation was immediately launched.”

Adekimi said, “The investigation yielded significant breakthroughs with the arrest of Aliyu Mohammed, who is alleged to have facilitated the activities of the kidnappers. In addition, investigators successfully identified and analysed the communication channels used by the criminal syndicate during ransom negotiations.”

The injured traditional ruler received medical treatment at the University of Ilorin Teaching Hospital and has been discharged from the medical facility.
