The Katsina State Police Command has successfully stopped three separate kidnapping attempts by suspected armed bandits in Danmusa and Faskari local government areas, rescuing eight victims unharmed, Okay.ng reports.

According to a statement released by ASP Abubakar Sadiq, the Police Public Relations Officer, on Monday, disclosed that the incidents took place on October 7, 2024.

The first attempt occurred around 11 am when armed bandits tried to abduct two women on the outskirts of Matarau village in Danmusa LGA.

Similarly, on the same day, there were distress calls from Faskari Divisional Police Headquarters. At around 10:30 am, armed bandits blocked Marabar Bangori-Unguwar Boka along the Funtua-Gusau road and kidnapped four individuals.

Later that day, at approximately 2:30 pm, another group of bandits blocked the Unguwar Kafa junction along the Yankara-Faskari road and abducted two women and their children.

Upon receiving the reports, police operatives swiftly mobilized to the scenes, engaging the assailants in gunfire. The bandits were forced to flee, leaving behind the kidnapped victims who were all rescued unharmed.

The attackers managed to escape, but the police believe that they sustained gunshot wounds.

The Commissioner of Police commended the officers for their bravery and reiterated the command’s commitment to tackling crime and ensuring the safety of residents in the state.
