Popular Yoruba Comedian ‘Baba Sala’ Critically Ill

The popular Yoruba actor/comedian, Moses Olaiya, also known as ‘Baba Sala‘ was rushed to University College Hospital (UCH) Ibadan on Monday night after his health deteriorated in his Ilesa, Osun State residence.

One of Baba Sala’s son confirmed to Punch correspondents that his father was rushed to UCH on Monday. He however denied that his father has died as being speculated in some quarters.

The 79 year old comedian is regarded as the father of modern Nigerian comedy. He, alongside other dramatist like Hubert Ogunde, Kola Ogunmola, Oyin Adejobi and Duro Ladipo popularized theartre and television acting in Nigeria.

Some of his film production includes; Orun Mooru (1982), Mosebolatan (1985), Agba Man (1992, Home Video).
