The Nigeria Customs Service Port Harcourt Area II Command has achieved a landmark revenue collection of N731.2 billion in 2025, surpassing its annual target by 4.46 per cent.
Okay News reports that the command, in a statement issued on Tuesday by Public Relations Officer Chief Superintendent Theophilus Duniya, described the performance as a remarkable milestone.
The target set for 2025 stood at N700.01 billion, but the command exceeded expectations through effective leadership and technological implementation.
Duniya attributed the success to Comptroller Aliyu Alkali‘s commitment to the Comptroller-General of Customs Adewale Adeniyi‘s policy thrust.
Key enablers included the indigenously developed Unified Customs Management System, known as the B’Odogwu platform, which accelerated cargo clearance and enhanced efficiency.
Alkali ensured strict adherence to standard operating procedures, maintained high discipline among officers, and fostered continuous stakeholder engagement.
He expressed gratitude to NCS management for creating an enabling environment and praised officers for their dedication, diligence, and professionalism.
The command also recorded significant anti-smuggling achievements, intercepting 75 containers with a cumulative duty-paid value of N47.6 billion.
Of these, 30 containers contained expired, illicit, and unregistered pharmaceutical products, while others violated various sections of customs laws.
Alkali stated that the seizures would deter potential violators and reinforced the command’s resolve to enforce regulations.
He urged importers and licensed agents to make honest declarations, emphasising commitment to facilitating legitimate trade while upholding integrity.
Port Harcourt Area II Command plays a vital role in revenue generation, trade facilitation, smuggling prevention, and border regulation enforcement.
The dual feats in revenue and interdiction underscore strengthened operational capacity in one of Nigeria’s busiest customs zones.
